How to Enable Online & Cross-Border Card Payments

Why banks worldwide block foreign online transactions by default, and how to enable them in 60 seconds.

Why do banks block foreign or online transactions?

To protect cardholders against fraud and unauthorized cross-border charges, many card issuers and regulatory banks automatically keep Online E-Commerce or Cross-Border / International Usage turned OFF by default until you turn it on in your mobile banking app.

Credit Cards vs. Debit Cards: Major international Credit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) have near 100% checkout success. Domestic debit cards may be blocked from foreign recurring charges by default.
PayPal Instant Alternative: If your card is declined by your bank, choosing PayPal at checkout provides an immediate, reliable alternative.
One-Time Activation: Once enabled in your banking app, future monthly renewals will process seamlessly without repeated manual steps.

3-Step Universal Setup (Works for any bank)

Follow these simple steps in your bank's mobile app or internet banking portal:

Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting

Q: Card was declined immediately without asking for OTP

This almost always indicates that Online or Cross-Border Transactions are toggled OFF in your banking app. Enable the setting in your app and try subscribing again.

Q: Payment failed on a domestic-only debit card

Certain regional debit cards (such as domestic-only RuPay or local EFTPOS) cannot process international USD transactions. Please use a Visa, Mastercard, American Express card, or select PayPal.

Q: Bank OTP SMS was delayed or timed out

Checkout OTP windows can expire after a few minutes. Ensure good mobile signal or choose email/app push authentication if supported by your bank, then retry.

Q: Are there foreign currency conversion fees?

Subscriptions are billed in USD. Depending on your bank and local currency, your card issuer may apply a nominal standard foreign exchange (FX) conversion fee (typically 1–3.5%).
